Upcoming events

Medical students will explore the overlap between veterinary and human medicine at the second annual tour of the Endangered Species Research Center & Animal Hospital at the Saint Louis Zoo on March 14 at 1:30pm.

The 2019 One Health Fair at the Saint Louis Zoo will take place on May 13 from 10am-2pm.

Our planned combo event with One Health at WUSM and the Wilderness Medicine Interest Group, in which medical students will head to Wash U’s Tyson Research Center to learn about Missouri’s disease ecology, identify potentially dangerous flora and fauna, and practice basic wilderness medicine techniques with EM residents, will be rescheduled for May 2019. Stay tuned!

April 19, 2017: In celebration of Biomedical Research Awareness Day, veterinarians Jenny Kalishman and Mary Ellenberger from the division of comparative medicine at Washington University School of Medicine spoke about the important role of lab animals in the advancement of both human and veterinary medicine (pdf). 

April 15, 2017: The 2017 One Health Fair took place at the Saint Louis Zoo.

March 31, 2017: Leishmaniasis, malaria control, and zika congenital syndrome were among the one health topics discussed at this year’s Global Health and Infectious Disease Conference (pdf) at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.

March 3, 2017: Medical students toured the Endangered Species Research Center & Animal Hospital at the Saint Louis Zoo to explore the overlap between veterinary and human medicine. 

February 7, 2017: One Health at WUSM led February’s Global Health Conversation concerning “The Mortality – Air Pollution Nexus and Actions to Mitigate Impacts.”  Thanks to the Global Health Student Advisory Committee for hosting this event!

September 30, 2016: Inaugural One Health Conference at the Saint Louis Zoo. The conference served as the official launch of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Auburn University, and University of Missouri Consortium for One Health (WAMCOH), the collaborative partnership of three preeminent research institutions.
